for College Students) program- SIGN UP TODAY!

DATE: TBA

TIME: 9 AM - 3 PM with an optional session from 3-4 PM (see description
below)

PLACE: TBA

COST: Paid by HEAPP w/ lunch provided and mileage reimbursed at
$0.38/mile plus tolls (if lodging is necessitated HEAPP may be able to
cover those cost too- contact Becky Ireland)

WHO: Anyone working for or with a Maine college or university who wants to increase their skill and effectiveness in talking with students about making reduced-risk alcohol choices- even those who have already participated in a training but who would like to improve their knowledge and skills!

DESCRIPTION: David Lischer from Saint Joseph's College (who has been
using BASICS on their campus for several years) will be conducting this
empowering and efficient training on how to use this "Best Practice"
substance abuse prevention/intervention strategy. David has adapted the
training to be just one day (versus the traditional 2 day training) and
much more hands-on and interactive. The goal of the 9-3 session
(includes lunch break) is to have participants leave the training
feeling like they have gained the information and skills needed to begin
using screening and brief intervention methods in their work with
college students. The optional additional 3 PM-4PM session will focus
on David teaching participants how to use a pre-designed computer
document to create an individualized feedback report for students that
summarize the results of their screening- this is a useful and
meaningful report for the students to receive.

DEADLINE to Sign Up: TBA
How to Sign Up: E-mail your name and contact info to Becky Ireland at
bireland@usm.maine.edu ; please indicate if you will be staying for
the 3-4 PM session and if you need lodging.
